Luca Giordano - Decoration of the Gallery, 1683-85
Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Florence
Palazzo Medici Riccardi was built in mid 15th century for Cosimo de’ Medici, pater familias of the great banking family of Florence - the famous Medici. It was designed by Michelozzo di Bartolomeo. Two hundred years later Luca Giordano was commissioned to decorate its gallery - which is actually its great hall, with scenes depicting the greatness of the Medici family.
